Hello fellow OMP members!

Before I tell you more about me, I want to express my gratitude to all of you who have generously extended a warm hello, complimented my work or simply sent a timely response to any of the numerous inquiries I have sent.

So, thank you very much!

WHY AM I HERE?

I consider myself an intelligent, capable and thoughtful individual. I am excited that my professional stature as a photographer is growing rapidly, which I attribute to my deep passion for photography, my skill interacting with others in a meaningful and fun way, whatever inherent artistic talents I possess, my knowledge of the craft, and last, but not least, the encouragement gained from steadily increasing recognition for my work.

I am also a successful businessman with deep and extensive knowledge and experience in numerous fields.

PhotoSensate is formally becoming the Photographic Arts focus of my web development and business consulting company, Verve X3, LLC.

WHO AM I?

I am a happily married, fifty year old man, with five children ranging in ages from 14 to 26. I have two grand children. My business model and my life are integrity based, freeing me to be honest, creative and smart without ulterior motives.

I have had a stable business career spanning 27 years. After obtaining my undergraduate degree from Denver University I moved to Houston and spent the next ten years working for a $50M/year oil field supply company where my final position was Controller/Treasurer. For the next five years I had a successful one man consulting company focused on custom programming and support of a popular PC based accounting package. I was then hired by one of my clients and spent the next ten years with what was then, a small business building custom engineered fabricated equipment. I was hired to support the growth of the company and guided it to 10-fold growth over 10 years. I left that company after rising to the position of COO/CFO, making room for the owner's children to extend their involvement. My wife and I and our two children still at home moved to College Station to be near my oldest daughter and grand sons, while reinventing myself for the third and final :) time. I have focused on my personal and creative interests which include photography and blues harmonica and started Verve X3, LLC a little over a year ago to renew my involvement with information technology. I have two employees and some very satisfied clients.

Her images are in my portfolio and she will be linking to me in the next couple of days as a Manager/Photographer. Gina Cashmere is a young woman from Houston that I shot near College Station earlier this year. I have a shoot planned for Saturday with another OMP model. My wife and youngest daughter are also modeling for me and my wife is helping with shoots.

Regardless of the nature of the work - whether as a Photographer or as a web developer - rates are based on the value of the opportunity and the benefit I provide to you or your company. And, in any case, you pay only for the work delivered that you, in your sole discretion, approve of and accept.

EQUIPMENT AND DIGITAL PROCESSING

I primarily shoot Canon digital. I currently use a Canon, EOS 20D, and an EOS 40D and have in the budget the purchase of the newly developed 35mm full frame 21 Megapixel Canon EOS-1Ds Mark III as soon as it become generally available. Occasionally I will shoot B&W film with an old Canon AE1 35mm or an even older Kodak Retina Reflex III. We can even break-out the Brownie's on special occasions. :c) Good quality video is possible with the Sony HI-8 Handicam.

I have a Canon EFS 17 to 85mm telephoto lens and a Canon EF 70-200mm USM zoom. Both lenses are especially designed by Canon to get the most out of the EOS line. I will purchase Canon’s new professional L-series ultra wide-angle EF 14mm f/2.8L II USM lens when I get the 1DS Mark III.

Portable studio lighting includes four, 320W (800 wattseconds illuminative power) free standing flash/stobe units all of which may be synched together and to the camera with wired remote for both flash fire and shutter trip. The lights and some bounce reflectors are mounted on appropriate commercial stands - two heavy-duty and two light duty. I'll also have all the appropriate lighting accessories including five foot soft box, diffusers, shoot-through and bounce umbrellas and a large reflector suitable for stand mounting.

Miscellaneous equipment includes a high-quality flash meter with wired remote trip of strobes and a handy ExpoDisc for white balance control.

For digital processing, I bring a laptop to the shoot installed with Windows XP Pro or Vista and Adobe Digital Darkroom and Photoshop CS3. We can review images quickly after any specific sequence, process your picks on the spot and off load them to CD or CompactFlash. I shoot a lot, and my ratio of usable images out of the box is quite respectable. Processing workflow is greatly enhanced by Adobe Lightroom, which allows me to digitally develop images quickly and professionally with little need to utilize Photoshop CS3 except to achieve extraordinary effects.
