I work to capture the intangible qualities of Spirit--the very core of existence--using the medium of photography, through people and landscapes: reflections of Spirit, and to bring a lost element of humanity back to the forefront of modern society. This body of work is my search for and sharing of the unseen beauty and truth, which occurs in and all around us. It is not I who creates, for there is but one Creator--and we are all a part of His magnificent work. If my artwork is successful, it's because I have quieted my own human sense enough to listen to that 'still, small voice' of Divine Truth, and have followed where it's guided.
My hope with the work is to uplift thought, and to offer a perspective that looks far deeper than one's skin. To hint at that which cannot be seen--Spirit-- through a visual, material medium--which is my perpetual challenge, as the two are quite opposite in their nature.
Interested in Modeling?
If my work interests you, I would be interested in talking with you about a project. I do not charge anything, and models typically end up with a few hundred dollars worth of gallery prints (not portfolio prints--I work in large format film and am a tedious printer to archival standards. This is work that will hold, and over time, appreciate in value). I always compensate the people I work with very well, but I choose to compensate them with different kinds of paper than what the US treasury prints with. And I think that what I print will ultimately last longer, and will hold far more value personally and financially.
What I am looking for in someone to work with, is that you have an interest to collaborate creatively in the work, and ideally you can relate, in your own way, to something spiritual--something beyond the mere physical world that our five senses perceive. Above and beyond that, it is not important if you are young, old, black, white, inexperienced, professional, large, skinny, etc. My goal is to find beauty everywhere--not just in where modern society perpetually looks for it.
What I would need to know from you is:
1. What interests you about my work?
2. What are you generally passionate about in life?
3. What is your creative background? (paint/draw/compose music/write/etc.)
4. What are your strengths/unique qualities?
5. With my style in mind, what images would you like to see achieved? (or which part of my work do you feel most drawn to be a part of?)
I am interested in working with people who care primarily about making amazing artwork. If you are willing to do most anything for $500, and view modeling as primarily a way to make money, I might not have the best tailored projects for you. I don't create images to make money, but to bless others. There are plenty of commercial photographers out there--I am not one of them. If however you are interested in the results more than in how we get there--if doing something fulfilling and new and creative (something that brings a new strand of light to the world) is worth more than money that will be spent tomorrow--then we can create profound work that is a cumulation of both our collective understandings and efforts. I compensate models very well, I just don't base my compensation or my work on the fleeting and shallow capitalistic monster that drives the rest of the world--and because of this, I find the work I create is stronger, holds more integrity, and blesses more.
I received a BA in Mass Communications with an emphasis on photography in 2001 from Principia College in Elsah, IL, and have worked for the past eight years as a fine art photographer. All my work is done in large format film, which is a costly and time-consuming process, but the end results are simply magnificent. I am constantly working on new projects — in the studio, landscape, or out on the road — mostly around the western U.S. and abroad, and I exhibit frequently in Colorado. I am currently in the process of b
