     General Information 
    Whew! I've been behind a content firewall for months (because of my "day job" overseas), but I've finally found my way back into OMP!

    And in general, have finally fired up my artistic mojo again after a three year hiatus, though much of my work these days is scenic and animal photography, rather than models. (Check out justThorne.com if you'd like to see.) But I'll be back in the USA for ten weeks in the summer of 2010, so I hope to shoot a bunch of new model content to inspire me! (I will, incidentally, be buying a Canon 7D, with its groundbreaking new focus system that's ideal for shooting models.)

    So please do say hello, especially if you're in the Lexington area and would like to work together!



    About me and my work:

    Hi, I'm Thorne. I shoot models for my art, for their own benefit, and for research into groundbreaking digital techniques for producing extraordinary large format prints. (It's pretty easy to make a girl look good in a small photograph, but I do it at two feet tall, suitable for framing.) Have an informal studio in my Lexington flat, in the vibrant downtown area with many different settings to exploit.

    The important categories below are Artistic and Fine Art - these represent my largest and most-labored prints (usually about 20 hours apiece to develop). As you can see, these works aren't so much "about" the subject as "star" the model. (I.e., I wouldn't at all call myself "a portrait artist.") Not at all interested in "reducing" a subject to an object or merely a pretty girl (though I've done some portfolio work, represented below in the non-art categories). Rather, my works mean to feature models as "avatars of the human condition." As such, it's the FACE that speaks to me and inspires me.

    Though, obviously, nothing does more justice to light itself, than cast upon the female form.

    In particular, younger/less experienced models may have the most to gain from working with me. Everyone that's worked with me has appreciated my command of a shoot in a spontaneous and free-form way, and I can teach a girl new posture and expression strategies that will benefit her in future shoots.

    Neither pay nor take pay (though do sometimes cover travel expenses). Do TFCD of about 500 shots as the initial/basic arrangement, and will forward other finished photography as it comes along. I do, however, work rather slowly on the latter. (Unfortunate but true.) However, usually quite committed to making sure everyone feels they've benefit from the exercise. Have gotten better at some rush jobs for portfolios.

    So, short answer, if you've got a pretty face and form, maybe want some valuable experience, and would like to be included in works like those in the art categories below, please do get in touch. We've only got a narrow window this summer so we should make the most of it!
