General Information
About Me: I am a St. Louis-based photographer and started my business in July of 2007. Since then, my work has been published both locally and nationally. My work background includes 8 years of NYC advertising experience on both the media and account management side. My clients have included Procter & Gamble, Upjohn, Pan American Airlines, Xerox and MCI. There is an old advertising quip that says that all Ad Execs are really just frustrated Creatives. While this may very well be true about me, there is no doubt that my advertising experience has had a strong influence on how I view people, places and things with my camera. My style is more casual and editorial in nature. In addition, I also try and be aware of what it is like to be on the other side of the lens. I am a contract photographer for a local talent agency in St. Louis as well as one of their models. I have appeared in trade publications and television. For me, there is a difference between someone who is serious about modeling and someone who just wants pretty pictures of themselves. In my book, serious models, regardless of appearances, are the ones who make a solid commitment to work, show up and then get the job done. These are the models with whom I want to associate and work. They are also the models that I will try to place in or recommend for paid work or tear sheet opportunities. Photography Notes: - While it never hurts to ask, I am rarely accepting TFCD requests unless I think that my portfolio will benefit from the request. If a model is just looking for standard portfolio images then please contact me about my rates. - For those who do inquire, TFCD does not simply mean a free portfolio shoot for the model. The "T" in TFCD means "Trade". By contacting me for TFCD work, a model is asking me to work with them on my terms as a photographer. - I can respect any model's wish not to expose themselves, but models (age 18+) who do contact me about TFCD should be comfortable enough to shoot in some form of undress - whether that be mostly nude, implied, bra-less, exposed, revealing, etc. - "Undress" does not just simply mean being "naked" in front of the camera nor is it always a requirement in my shoots. My preference is to work with models who are confident enough in themselves as models as well as in my abilities as a photographer to get the image that will benefit both of our portfolios rather than second guessing their looks, their modesty or my intentions. - If I contact a model for TFCD work, it is because I have seen something in that model that I want in my portfolio. I will discuss their comfort level in wardrobe and posing prior to shooting. - My primary business is for paid professional work with individuals, families and companies. Paid work takes precedence over all other projects. Other Info: I lease warehouse space in St. Louis for my studio, but I prefer working with models under natural light conditions. I ask all models to provide legal photo identification prior to shooting and to sign the American Society of Media Photographers (ASMP) model release form that I use. I will work with models under the age of 18 if a parent or legal guardian gives his/her permission, signs my release and is present during the shoot. I am not sympathetic to unexcused no-shows or last minute cancellations. Additionally, I do welcome any escort or companion that any model wishes to bring to a location, but he/she/they are not welcome to take an active role in the shoot unless invited to do so. Each photographer is different when it comes to providing models with images. My practice is to give models a handful of good edited images rather than a plethora of mundane and redundant unedited images. Unless I have been hired to shoot, models can expect to receive up to 5 edited images from me. I have not asked any of the models with whom I have worked for references, but I certainly would not hesitate to suggest that they be contacted if anyone wants know more about their working experience with me.
