     General Information 
    There are two types of models.

    Type 1: Dreamers, you think you want to be a model but do nothing to make it happen. Start and never follow through.

    Type 2: Models, who make it by working hard, learning to pose and displaying the correct expression that the client wants to sell the product. Products for men have a posing style. Products for women have another. You must be able to do both to become a real model.

    When we shoot a beginning, Model or someone adding to their portfolio, we shoot it as a print ad both for marketing products and artistic forms for fashion and editorial. I believe this will put you in front and above all others. We will email you examples of each if you are interested.

    I grew up in New York City, where my love for photography developed. I worked as an assistant photographer for many years in New York City before starting out on my own. I am willing to share all my knowledge and experience with the models I work with.

    Getting Started:
    The Art Directors and Talent Agencies no longer walk the streets searching for Models. In today’s world with high-tech communications and the number of Models, searching for work they know a Model wanting to work will come to them.

    The first thing that every model needs is a picture. In order to be hired for a modeling job, you need to be able to show potential clients what you look like. How do you get pictures? We are not talking about snap shots taken by mom or by you, but a professional portfolio. By a Professional Photographer who can create an image that will get you noticed.

    Modeling is a very demanding profession. As a model, you have become a product that Art Directors, Advertisers and Photographers are in need of. The problem is that you know you are a model but they do not. To overcome this problem you have to get them to see you and show them that you are willing to work. This involves a great effort on your part. You must get your Comp-Card and Portfolio in front of them and stand out above the others.

    Once you have your portfolio in order. You can use a professional modeling agency if you choose. They are found in every large city and do a good job of finding models work.

    Model Test Shoots:

    Bill Opitz Photography will occasionally do TFP/CD (Time for Photo and CD) with models that have a look we need for our portfolio or to fit a particular project. TFP means a 50-50 split between the model and the studio. It is a collaborative effort to give the models photos that they want and photos that we want. This allows us to try out different looks, lighting arrangements, new cameras, etc. We will work as hard as you are willing to in order to create marketable images.
