Studio One Pensacola, the fully equipped, fully staffed, co-op/rental photography studio of Michael Smith, is available for hourly, daily, weekly, monthly, and annual rental by individuals and groups for sessions, workshops, and classes. Studio One Pensacola is conveniently located in historic downtown Pensacola, Florida at 103 W. Intendencia, at the intersection of Baylen and W. Intendencia.The studio space is 1200 sq ft in area with 10’ ceilings. The interior is a combination of beautiful old brick and finished drywall, painted with neutral whites with a satin finish. There is a separate carpeted reception area, wood floored north studio, interior courtyard, storage room, dressing rooms, and office. The Studio is wired for LAN computers and wireless internet access. There is a complete Yamaha sound system with Sirrius, CD/DVD, and iPod inputs. The studio shares an interior hallway with the popular upscale full-service, salon and spa, Headhunters, on Baylen Street, which is ideal for on-site and visiting makeup artists and hairstylists. There are men and women’s restrooms/dressing rooms along the hallway and streetside entry on W. Intendencia, with both metered and free parking.
Studio One Pensacola now provides free model management services, such as portfolio development, publicity, promotion, and spa and salon services for models who regularly book the Studio for their photo sessions. Contact us for more information!
When you schedule your session at Studio One Pensacola, the entire studio and all equipment is included in one low price and will be set up for you before you arrive, so you maximize your session time - pre-session training is provided at no additional charge - or you can bring your own personal equipment. For almost fifty years he used traditional photographic chemical processing methods and light-sensitive film, slide, and print media to create and produce his photographic artUnfortunately, all his photographic equipment and a lifetime’s worth of prints, negatives and slides were destroyed in hurricane Ivan in 2004 Since then, he has been able to gradually replace those losses with digital equipment, techniques, and media, and has now rebuilt his photographic portfolio.
He is a member of the Professional Photographers of America, a juried member of Model Mayhem's "The List", and is a Getty Images Contributing Artist. As a Juried Artist, and former member of the board of directors, his work is on display at the Quayside Gallery in Pensacola. His work also appears in other galleries, restaurants, and professional offices in the local area.
His subjects are eclectic, whether in studio or on location Although he has considerable training in digital technology and image manipulation, his approach is to capture, reproduce, and convey the image the way he experienced it at the time it was taken - without staging, excessive enhancement, or distortion He processes and produces all his own work using the highest quality equipment, archival materials, and techniques.
In addition to his interest in photography as fine art, he is available for general commercial photographic projects on short notice in studio or on location, including formal and informal portraits of individuals and groups, small weddings and events, beach photography, model portfolio development, photojournalism, advertising and real estate – just about anything that involves the photography of people, places, and things. He also conducts classes on photography on a one-on-one or group basis at his Co-op/Rental studio, Studio One Pensacola, or on location. The studio is also available for rent on an hourly or Co-op basis for travelling photographers, models, and production crews.
Originally from Birmingham, with longstanding roots in north and south Alabama, he takes great pride in his Southern heritage and his love of the South and its people. A local resident since 1984, he lives and works with his wife, Jan, in Gulf Breeze, Florida and travels frequently throughout the Florida panhandle and southern Alabama andGeorgia His other interests include sailing, fine dining, gourmet cooking, and socializing with friends.
