Lance Tilford Photography specializes in working with professional talent--actors, models, musicians and spokespersons. Lance owns Limelight Studio in the St. Louis MO area. Limelight is the go-to studio for regional talent and works with all legitimate talent and modeling agencies in the region. Lance shoots headshots, fashion, editorial, creative, and works with top stylists.

Aspiring models: the investment you make in a professional portfolio is crucial. If you're not working with photographers who shoot for the industry and who work with professional agencies, you're not getting your foot in the door. Testing and doing TFP is great to get some camera experience, but photographers who shoot for free generally are not on a professional level, or are not working with agencies, and may not be able to give you the advice and direction you need. You should know that legitimate agencies DO NOT require professional pictures to start; they would rather have candids of face and body for an initial assessment, then would audition you if they are interested. There are certain types/sizes that work in different markets, and it's to your benefit to work with photographers and studios who know the industry and can be honest with you about your potential. And that requires an investment. If you have had no luck getting the attention of an agency, there may be good reasons; we can help you learn why.

What many models and photographers submit on this site as "headshots," "fashion," or "glamour" samples would never be considered such in the professional world and would never be used in a professional portfolio. Work with someone who knows the industry; call legitimate agencies for recommendations! Of course there are some spectacular photographers and stunning models and great images--but what really helps you get paid work?

If you want to become a professional, work with a professional.
