Charlotte, North Carolina Casting for Playboy
November 15th and 16th
Jarmo Pohjaniemi, Playboy photographer from Miami, and Jeff Cohen, publisher of the Playboy Special Editions, will be conducting an open casting for Playboy in Charlotte, North Carolina on Wednesday, November 15th and Thursday, November 16th.
"We've never conducted a search in that lovely part of the country," according to Jeff, "and we expect a good turnout from not only the immediate area but from all up and down the east coast."
Jarmo ranks high in the "colorful past" category. In addition to a stint in the Finnish military, and a brief career racing motorcycles, Jarmo was a fashion model for several years in Paris, Milan and London.
After coming to the States and taking up photography, Jarmo called Playboy to announce that he could produce better shots than he was seeing their magazine. By luck, he got Jeff Cohen on the phone and Jeff told him to send in some of his work. Jarmo sent in images of two girls and that began a seven-year relationship with Playboy, first as a freelancer selling his images on spec and more recently, as one of Playboy's regular contract photographers.
Jarmo now works exclusively for Playboy, shooting three to four times a week, often using the One Model Place studios in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
Like many Playboy shooters, Jarmo laments the excessive use of breast implants. "I'm looking for natural beauties" he says, "and big is not necessary." "The problem isn't implants; it's their overuse. Implants can look natural and proportional, but most do not. I recently did a casting in L.A. and more than a hundred girls appeared. Only six had natural breasts and 80% of the others had bad implant jobs. We couldn't use them. It's disappointing."
His advise to girls at the casting: "Be yourself, relax, have your hair lightly done and light makeup."
The details of the casting can be found here.
