Making Books Sing, an arts in education organization based in New York City, is casting their upcoming touring musical My City Park! They are seeking non-equity actors/singers with the following skills:
·Experience working with and performing for children
·Experience working with multiple puppets
·Must play guitar to be considered for a role
·High quality singing voice
Candidates must have flexible Spring/Summer 2013 schedules and be willing to travel to performance venues in all five boroughs of New York City and the surrounding area.
Preferred but not required:
·Owns car and willing to drive to sites
·Teaching experience- desire to join Making Books Sing's roster of teaching artists (in addition to functioning as an actor)
My City Park! When Milo finds out that his favorite city park is going to be torn down and replaced with a shopping mall, he seeks out the help of his two best friends, Odessa the Owl and Bucky the Squirrel. Best for ages 3-10, this educational performance features puppetry, original songs and audience participation. Children will learn the importance of shared community spaces as they sing along to songs that celebrate New York City! 45-minute performance.
