Company / Case Manager - The Stargate Project

A pilot iteration of the project will run from July 2 through the end of August, with advance planning, pre-production, and participant recruitment occurring in the preceding months. During the seven weeks of active operation, a group of ten male adolescents, recruited from the target population, will meet roughly 12 hours per week to devise an original theatrical piece under the guidance of the project’s Artistic Director; the piece will be performed at the project’s conclusion for an audience of family and friends. In addition to the theatre-making component, participants will receive literacy and workplace-readiness coaching and instruction.

We are seeking a part-time Company/Case Manager for the project, who will be involved in the planning and recruitment process and share responsibility for its successful operation during July and August. Specific responsibilities include:

• Participating in meetings of the Project Committee, which will occur at least twice monthly between February 1 and July1.
• Taking an active role in securing space for the project and in recruiting participants, in collaboration with staff from Vera and MTC.
• Prepare materials and secure supplies for the project as directed by the Artistic Director.
• During the active project period, take a hands-on role in ensuring the regular and timely participation of the company members, drawn from a cohort that has limited prior success with regular attendance, promptness, and sustained, goal-oriented activity. (i.e, phoning, texting, emailing reminders, and interacting directly with participants)
• Keep records, including participant attendance, distribute evaluative questionnaires, secure materials and supplies as needed, and otherwise oversee the administration and logistics of the project.
• Assist the Artistic Director in implementing the various components of the program.

Qualified applicants will have
• A Bachelor’s Degree or higher in a relevant subject area.
• Prior experience in youth development, preferably with court-involved populations.
• Strong inter-personal skills.
• Competence with relevant computer programs (Word, Excel, etc.)
• Organizational ability and mastery of detail.
• Managerial and administrative experience.
• Familiarity and experience with theatrical process is a plus.

Note: This is a part-time, temporary position. It will terminate upon completion of the project on or about September 1, 2013.
