New York Stage and Film (SAF), a non-profit AEA Company which produces its summer season of new play at the Powerhouse Theater at Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, NY, seeks a Costume Shop Supervisor for the 2013 Powerhouse Season. Season includes 2-3 fully-produced mainstage productions, 2-3 musical workshops, 2-3 play workshops, and 8-10 readings. The Costume Shop Supervisor oversees all aspects of Department including: constructing costumes for all mainstage productions and workshops, working with Production Manager and Designers to manage costume budgets for each production, coordinating fittings with Designers and Stage Management, care and maintenance of stock, and supervision of costume and wardrobe staff, including interns. Previous costume shop management experience preferred. Stitching and draping abilities required; some knowledge of wig and hair preferred. Salary and housing provided for full-time work from early June to mid-August.

SAF is dedicated to both emerging and established artists in the development of new works for theater and film. During the Powerhouse Season, several hundred professional playwrights, directors, actors, designers, apprentices, staff members and interns live and work together. Each summer, new creative alliances are formed, artists substantially broaden their experience and expertise, plays take giant steps forward, nascent artists are given their first opportunities, knowledge is passed from working professionals to students and audiences grow to understand and support the process of creating work for the theater.
